Privacy Policy

Last Updated: April 24, 2026

ArcheoEarth is built to help you explore historical places around the world. Your privacy matters to us, and we want to be transparent about how the App works.

In short: We do not sell, share, or use your personal data for marketing. We only collect the minimum information needed to run the App – such as your email for sign-in and your language preference. Your location is never stored on our servers. Everything we do with data is to make the App work for you, nothing more.

Below you will find the full details.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create an account using Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In, we collect:

We do not collect your password. Authentication is handled securely through Apple or Google.

1.2 User Preferences

1.3 Usage Data

1.4 Device and Technical Data

1.5 Location Data

If you grant location permission, we use your location solely to center the map on your position and show nearby historical places. Location data is processed on your device and is not stored on our servers.

1.6 Advertising Data

If you grant App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission on iOS 14.5+, our advertising partner may collect device-level identifiers to serve more relevant ads. You can deny this permission without affecting the core functionality of the App. You may change this at any time through your device settings (Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking).

2. Third-Party Services

2.1 Advertising

Free-tier users may see interstitial and rewarded video ads. If you grant ATT permission, device-level identifiers may be collected to serve more relevant ads. Premium subscribers do not see ads, and no ad-related data is collected for them.

2.2 AI Content Generation (Google Gemini)

Historical place descriptions and topics are generated using Google Gemini AI. Only place names and metadata are sent to the AI service. No user personal data is used as input.

2.3 Map (Apple MapKit)

The interactive map is rendered using Apple MapKit. Apple’s own privacy terms apply to map data.

2.4 Analytics (PostHog)

We use PostHog, a product analytics service, to understand how the App is used and to improve the user experience. PostHog receives a pseudonymous user identifier, premium status, language preference, and general usage events (such as which features are used). PostHog does not receive your email address, location, or any personally identifiable information. Data is processed on PostHog’s EU servers. For more information, see PostHog’s Privacy Policy.

2.5 Error Tracking (Sentry)

We use Sentry to monitor app stability and diagnose crashes. Sentry receives technical diagnostic data such as device type, operating system version, and error stack traces. Sentry does not receive your email address, location, or the content you view. For more information, see Sentry’s Privacy Policy.

2.6 Payments

All in-app purchases and subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not have access to your credit card or payment details.

3. Account Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the App settings. This permanently removes all your information (profile, saved places, usage history, content reports) from our servers. You can also deny App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission to prevent ad-related tracking. If you have any questions about your data or wish to exercise any rights available under applicable law, please contact us using the details in Section 6.

4. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will promptly delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us.

5. AI-Generated Content

The App uses artificial intelligence to generate descriptions and topics about historical places. This content is:

No personal user data is used as input for AI content generation.
